Source and licence
Every figure on Party Prompt comes from one published table.
The source is the National Records of Scotland dataset “Babies' first names: all first forenames given to babies whose births were registered in Scotland”. It is published as one zip file holding full-list-1974-2025.csv (columns Year,Sex,Name,Number,Rank), with the metadata file inside the same zip. Party Prompt reads only that table's own columns: the year, the sex, the name, the number of babies given it and the rank the publisher assigns.
The table covers 1974 to 2025: 52 years, 74,331 rows, 5,954 distinct names and 6,261 name and sex pairs. No rows were dropped when the file was read. The smallest number in the table is 3 and the largest is 2,024; the publisher suppresses names with a total count of 2 or less in Scotland to protect the confidentiality of individuals, which is why no figure here is below 3.
Licence: the publisher states on its own site that “All content is available under the Open Government Licence v3.0”, and the publisher's copyright statement in the zip's metadata file grants re-use of the spreadsheet under the Open Government Licence. The licence text is the Open Government Licence for public sector information, version 3, at https://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/doc/open-government-licence/version/3/.
